Galveston, Texas ~ Rosewood Cemetary

While touring the island, Nick of the Historical Foundation of Galveston, took us to a little hidden gem. The first African American Cemetery known to date in the city. A lot of the grave sites were unrecognizable. I asked if there were any known families linked to any of the graves, but the answer was no. History laying off of the Seawall, between hotels and eateries. Steps away from the Seawall. A forgotten about cemetery. We walked around and paid our respects and imagined how many graves were unseen. They have reported finding a skull from one of the graves but they are not for sure which one being that the area is now a runoff and floods often.
