Galveston, Texas~ Lincoln Theater

Lincoln Theater was established in Galveston in March 1915. This business was Black owned and operated and offered a variety of vaudeville entertainment. The opening lineup consisted of Baby Floyd Seals, comedian, Bonnie Bell Drew, singer, Porter and Porter, comedians, J.C. Boone, singer. This building hosted a ton of laughter. In August 1921 Billboard listed The Lincoln as a "Colored Theater and Attractions" to see. Also in 1921, The African American Theater Directory included this location.

The building is still standing but not actively open for visitors. The area of town is in the redevelopment stages. I hope the history is restored and it continues to remain as a location on the island.
